The Planning Committee is pleased announce that the IGED 2018 Keynote Speaker is Diana Johnson who is a Project Manager for the City of Kansas City, Missouri Water Services Department.

Diana has over 20 years' experience in various aspects of engineering projects.  A graduate of UMC/UMKC Coordinated Engineering program, she joined KCMO Water Department in April 2004 and is responsible for supervising consulting engineers and contractors in the design of water and sewer system improvements, green infrastructure, and construction projects.

Diana participates in various phases of project management, from managing and participating in various engineering construction projects to checking for conformance with plans and specifications.  She also reviews project proposals, establishes work plans, and determines periods, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements and allotment to various phases of project management.  Diana is well-versed in working with developers to incorporate green building design and infrastructure and Low Impact development including green space, stream setbacks, open space, stormwater management, and sustainable development.

Her passion and focus is the public who are the recipients of the work she does.  The challenge is ensuring the citizens of KCMO receive high quality services in water and sewer infrastructure.  She is presently working on a $3.5M green infrastructure project that partners the City of KCMO with East High School (her alma mater), Avenue of Life, and Veterans Hospital.

Diana believes that women can aspire to great heights in engineering and that no one makes it in life without help. Although the fields of science, engineering and technology is open to all people, woman are gaining ground to lead major companies. Girl power in math, science, engineering and technology can advance one's economic standing and status in the world. Continue to reach for the Stars and if you cannot cling to a star grab hold to the Moon but be the best at who you are.

Diana is married to her best friend and husband of 36 years, Ollie Johnson Jr with 2 married children: a son who has degrees in Aerospace Engineering and Physics, a daughter who is a small business owner pursuing her business degree and 3 grandchildren.
